Chamizal National Memorial

The Chamizal National Memorial is one of the toughest trails in El Paso and is the race and marathon training spot for many of the city’s high school cross country track teams. McKelligon Canyon

McKelligon Canyon is located on the southeastern side of the Franklin Mountains State Park and is part of the Franklin Mountains State Park trailhead system. Pat O’Rourke Memorial Trail

The Pat O’Rourke Memorial Trail is a 4.4-mile-long round-trip venture on the western side of El Paso. This park is also part of the Franklin Mountains State Park system, and its trails are perfect for a relaxed stroll or bike ride through amazing scenery.

Hueco Tanks State Park and Historic Site

The Hueco Tanks State Park and Historic Site is a unique trailhead for mountain and boulder biking with its rocky and rugged terrain. The park gets its name from the “huecos,” or “hollows,” that collect rainwater from the rare storms that pass through this desert landscape. With cave paintings and historical beginnings, including the cultural histories of several Native American tribes of the area, this trailhead offers active biking and learning opportunities for anyone looking for adventure in El Paso.
