The Acura TLX Type S Concept: What You Need to Know

Acura, as a brand, once dominated the performance image. In 2015 they started the process of coming back into the limelight with their second-generation NSX, and in 2016 they brought forth the Precision Concept luxury sedan. In 2017 and 2018, they produced the IMSA GTD and Prototype, respectively. They have now outdone themselves by introducing the Acura Type S Concept. All About the Type S Concept The new Type S Concept, which was introduced during the Monterey car week, seems to be setting the pace for a more performance-minded production of Acura's. Jon Ikeda, Acura's vice president, said they were moving towards a more youthful and energetic design, premiered by the Type S Concept, whose goal is to prove the ‘Precision-Crafted Performance' as the fundamental quality. more The Type S Concept resembles the next generation TLX mid-size sedan, but the Type S has a transversely mounted engine and longer dash-to-axle ratio. Acura is also set to bring back the Type S badge of the 2000s that was previously done on the RSX, GL, and TL performance versions. There’s hope that a turbocharged V-6 will be in place, which would be similar to the engine used in the Acura NSX that’s been de-electrified - or a new engine altogether. The uniqueness of the Type S Concept The Type S Concept car looks stylish and classic with its distinctive blue color, known as ‘Double Apex Blue'. Its design is elegant, sleek, and electric; guaranteed to get your attention. The forged carbon fiber trim gives it a better visual texture than the traditional carbon elements. Its contoured flanks, wide stance, low roof, and long hood project power. Acura’s design has the sense of performance nailed with their open-surface diamond pentagram grille, large air-intakes below the headlights, and four LED lamp headlights. The short rear deck, a large inlet in the front deck, and long hood give the Type S its classic sporty look. Acura achieved their performance-inspired goal with the Brembo four Piston yellow brake calipers in every corner of the 21-inch wheels. At the front, you’ll find a small tame grille surrounded by bold vents. The side vents are similar to the NSX - but unique to itself are the Jewel-Eye LED headlights. The signature Chicane light is influenced by the ARX-05 Daytona prototype car. A daring crease that looks like that of the Precision Concept runs from the front wheel to the rear end. The back diffuser and decklid spoiler have forged carbon that goes well with the forged carbon splitter. The back of the car has neat lines, matching chicane taillights and headlights, and quad chrome exhaust outlets, providing a sporty and legendary appearance. Acura is a pacesetter when it comes to luxurious cars and competitive sporty race cars. The Type S Concept will go beyond their set Precision-Crafted Performance to set a world standard of high-level performance cars. The set time for the unveiling of Type S is expected to be in a year, as a 2021 model. Image via acura.com

A Look at Acura's Top Safety Features

Acura is continually coming up with better ways to keep you and your passengers safe. Whether it's through tried-and-tested methods like their advanced airbag system or through technological advancements such as the AcuraWatch system, Acura keeps focusing on safety. Here are four top Acura safety features available that we think you'll be impressed by. Blind Spot Assist Acura's blind spot information system solves one of the oldest safety issues. Using radars, this system looks for vehicles where you can't see them and then alerts you if it finds one. Whenever the blind spot assist senses a car where you can't see it, a light on the windshield pillar comes on to warn you. Also, when you turn on your turn signal, a light flashes and a warning beep sounds to better get your attention. Blind spot assist works when you are traveling over 20 mph. more Collision Mitigation The AcuraWatch safety suites provide proactive rather than reactive driver assisting technology. Rather than just reacting to a crash with things such as safety belts or airbags, the AcuraWatch system helps you to avoid a crash altogether. The collision mitigation system is a step closer to automated self-driving vehicles without giving away any driving control. This system uses a camera and radar to continually scan the road ahead for any potential collision threats. If it senses that there may be a possible collision, the driver is immediately alerted with a flashing visual warning and an audible beep. And, if the driver doesn't respond quickly enough, the car will apply its own brakes to lessen the severity of or avoid the crash completely. This system comes standard on the MDX and RLX, but it's available for all Acura SUVs and sedans. Jewel Eye Headlights Good visibility is essential for safety, and Acura's jewel eye LED headlights have been designed to give you the best visibility no matter the conditions. The headlights imitate sunlight at night to improve visibility. They are angled to light up the parts of the road that you need to see the most. And, as an added bonus, they make the Acura look pretty sharp. AcuraLink When you leave your vehicle, the Acura experience doesn't end. The AcuraLink app on your phone allows you to check on your vehicle even when you aren't right with or in your car. The AcuraLink app will remind you when you need to schedule car maintenance. You can unlock your Acura with the app from wherever you are. If you suddenly need assistance while you are driving, you can reach for help at any time of the day. Simply choose your location on your phone's map and Acura will be sent directions. The AcuraLink app makes driving more interactive than ever before. Stay safe with these and many more Acura safety features. These four features are just a few of the many ways that Acura helps you and your passengers stay safe. 4 Features of the 2019 Acura TLX That Commuters Will Enjoy

Good-looking and powerful, the 2019 Acura TLX is a sharp performer. The TLX is a sports sedan that feels too comfortable and refined to be called a sports car and in truth, is just perfect. The solid, strong brakes and reactive steering boost the driving pleasure. You’ll love the following six features of the 2019 Acura TLX. Performance Choose between the 206-horsepower, 2.4-incline engine or the naturally aspirated powerful 290 horsepower, 3.5-liter V-6 producing 267 pound-feet of torque. Decide between the standard front-wheel drive or upgraded all-wheel-drive system. Drive the V-6 to find that it pulls hard - even at high speeds - when you need a bit of extra power to overtake on the highway but is still smooth off the line when you need to moderately accelerate from a stop. more The A-Spec package comes with wider tires, screwed-down damper settings, and sharper-tuned electric power steers, complimenting the all-wheel drive, which powers the front wheels in straight-line cruising while transferring around 70% to the rear on acceleration and sharp curves. More power goes to the outside rear wheel as you round a bend to help tuck the car in. Between the suspension, engine, and its relatively lightweight body, you won't be able to stop smiling. Comfort Inside, the TLX has some high points. Sit in comfort in well-boasted seats — the Elite and Elite A trims offer luxury heated and ventilated front seats, and the driver's seat has a power cushion extender. Although the rear seats don't have as many features, a 6-foot passenger will sit comfortably with sufficient headroom. The sizeable trunk is available to transport or store all your goodies for the day and is made even more useful with two storage bins hidden under the floor. Securely stash items in the divider so that they don't roll around in the trunk. Infotainment The infotainment center is divided into two screens — the top screen allows for easy navigation and viewable maps. The bottom screen handles the other functions, such as climate settings, phone, stereo, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and inputting navigation commands. Set up an address and simply talk to your car and it will obediently bring up the directions. It'll take you to work or to nearby points of interests, such as to a coffee shop, restaurant, the gym, or a nearby gas station. After a long day at work, tell it to take you home, and the navigation system will happily comply! Safety Safety comes first when driving, and Acura produces some of the safest luxury cars available. The Acura TLX is equipped with a wide variety of powerful safety features and received a five-star evaluation in all NHTSA tests, making the TLX a standout option for commuters. Driver-assist technology includes adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assistance, and collision mitigation braking system. Be aware of what is around you with the blind spot information system, parking sensors, and surround-view camera system. Acura has done a great job with the 2019 TLX - it's a sharp car that is fun and safe to drive! Stop by Fox Acura of El Paso to take a test drive today! 3 Signs You Need to Get Your Acura to the Dealership Fast

There is nothing worse than your vehicle breaking down, especially if you've neglected to follow up on any symptoms it has displayed.  Every vehicle needs maintenance and care to perform in peak condition. While it's vital to service your Acura according to the guidelines in your owner's manual, there are times when you’ll need to attend to problems immediately. If your vehicle displays any of the following warning signs, you need to get it to the dealership quickly to avoid lasting damage. Warning Lights on the Dashboard When a warning light comes on, there's a good reason for it. Although you may not feel any difference in the performance of the vehicle while you are driving, there are many things in the system that could go wrong. Check the manual to see what the particular dash symbol is indicating. When the yellow or red check engine symbol starts flashing, you need to get your car to the dealership as soon as possible. As technology evolves, the dashboard warning system becomes imperative in car care. Don't ignore the warning; have the vehicle checked out to avoid costly repairs later. more Strange Sounds When the car is in motion, any strange sounds are a sign that something could be wrong and needs immediate attention. A high-pitched squeal when you turn on the ignition could indicate a worn or loose belt. Squealing brakes may be a warning of worn brake pads. A droning sound from the wheels may be the wheel bearings or the differential bearings. A loud noise coming from the exhaust could be a hole or crack in the exhaust pipe. Crunching or grinding gears indicate the possibility of parts that need replacement due to wear and tear. Smoke or Steam Coming From Under the Hood Your car should never have smoke or steam coming out from under the hood. This is a clear sign that you need to get the car checked out. It likely indicates overheating, which will cause further damage if ignored. Watch the temperature gauge on the dashboard. When you are driving, the needle should always be in the center of the gauge. If the temperature keeps increasing, pull over and wait for the engine to cool down before proceeding. If the smoke is blue, it indicates burning oil. Do not drive any farther, as it will cause even more damage. Other signs indicating you need to get your Acura to Fox Acura of El Paso in a hurry are the following: Excessive smoke emitting from the exhaust, leaks under your parked car, an engine that shudders, unresponsive or oversensitive braking, frequent stalling, ignition problems when starting the vehicle, or a loss of power when driving. Any of these problems can be avoided by having your Acura regularly serviced at your dealership, where the service department staff is trained and equipped to give you the best professional service. Your vehicle will receive a multi-point vehicle inspection to identify any potential problems for the staff to take care of. Image via pixabay.com | Licensed under Pixabay License
