Outdoor Fun at Hueco Tanks State Park

If you're into enjoying the great outdoors, then Hueco Tanks is one location you'll want to check out. It's perfect for those who love to hike and rock climb and is also a big part of El Paso's rich history. The massive rock formations have been around for many centuries, and some pictographs depict evidence of ancient civilizations who once roamed this area. Tours can be booked in advance, and it's recommended that you do this due to a limit on the number of people allowed onto the site.

The National Border Patrol Museum

This monument to one of America's finest law enforcement agencies gives you an in-depth look at the history behind the US Border Patrol. In this museum, you'll find all types of vehicles such as boats, motorbikes, trucks, and even various types of aircraft. You can also see weapons and artillery exhibits as well as plenty of artwork and historical pictures.

Plaza Theatre

Located in the heart of downtown, it's considered by many to be the crown jewel of El Paso. An architect named W. Scott Dunne bought and redesigned this theatre, and it opened its doors in 1930. The theatre has a beautiful European design, with classic finishes from wall to wall. Residents and visitors can enjoy a variety of musicals and Broadway shows here throughout the year.

Aerial Tramway

The Aerial Tramway offers a bird's eye view of El Paso by way of gondola rides, much like the ones found in Switzerland. The ride takes you up and away over the Franklin Mountains and ends when you reach the highest point of Ranger Peak. The view from here can only be described as breathtaking and don't worry, the gondola ride is less than ten minutes long, so you'll have plenty of time to make it back to the town and enjoy other sites and activities.

A Great Community Town

Apart from some cool sites and places to visit, what makes El Paso great are the people that live there. You'll feel that warm community spirit by simply walking downtown and visiting some of the mom and pop stores featured there. Don't forget to try one of the many restaurants in the downtown area as well. Your taste buds will thank you when you try some of the savory dishes served up from family recipes passed down from one generation to the next!
