Powertrain
A 2.0-liter Turbo Aluminum-Alloy 4-cylinder engine is the heart of the TLX, pushing out 272 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. It does come standard with Front-Wheel Drive, so if you want to get yourself into an AWD version, you’ll have to go up to another trim level. It comes with a 10-speed automatic transmission with sequential SportShift Paddle Shifters.
Integrated Dynamics
With the Integrated Dynamics System (IDS), the TLX allows you to choose your driving style. The IDS dial is on the center console, and the readout displays on the Multi-Information Display. With a simple little twist, you have access to four driving modes; Comfort, Normal, Sport, and Individual, all creating different driving styles and capabilities of the vehicle.
Comfort mode reduces the sensitivity of the throttle response to create a more consistent engine speed and a smooth ride. Normal mode is a balanced mix of comfort and handling. Sport mode allows the power steering to be reduced so you have a more hands-on feel and more aggressive shifts, all while active sound control is reduced, letting you hear more of the engine and exhaust notes. Individual Mode allows you to create a customized driving experience.
Going Inside
Once inside the TLX, you’ll be seated in the comfortable sport seats wrapped in perforated Milano Premium Leather, with contrasting stitching. The heated front seats are 12-way power-adjustable and include power lumbar support. The rear seats have a 60/40 split fold for access to the trunk and larger items stowed away.
Advanced Temperature Control
The TLX has dual temperature control, but that’s not even the coolest part. It has GPS-linked Automatic Climate Control. There is a solar sensor in the vehicle that can measure the intensity of the sun, and the climate control automatically adjusts for the ambient temperature outside. The GPS sensor in the TLX navigation system keeps track of the sun’s position relative to the car.
Elegance On The Inside
From the leather-wrapped steering wheel to the electronic gear selector, active sound control, Iconic Drive ambient LED lighting with 27 themes, brushed aluminum trim, and color-matched headliner, the TLX is immersive to the senses. The ELS Studio Premium Audio System delightfully tickles the eardrums. Bluetooth and USB ports allow plenty of connection, and a wireless charge pad is available for your phone.
