2020 Acura TLX
2020 Acura TLX has a composed exterior and offers a comfy ride. It comes with several standard features and desirable options, like an all-wheel drive and rear-wheel steering that improves handling. The cabin seats are cozy and made from quality materials.
Among the changes in the 2020 TLX are new paint colors not found in the 2019 model. These are Majestic Black Pearl, Canyon Bronze metallic, Apex Blue Pearl, and Performance Red Pearl. A significant addition to the trim levels is an ultra-limited-edition - the TLX PMC, which has mostly the same specs and powertrain as the A-Spec TLX but gets a Valencia Red Pearl paint, not found in any other model except for the Acura NSX.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The 2020 TLX is attractive, but with very few options. Its best view is from the rear and comes with dual exhaust tips, sharp LED taillights, and a rear bumper with a diffuser style. The sportier A-Spec models have tinted taillights and large size 4-inch exhaust tips. This year it also has an A-Spec unique color - the Apex Blue Pearl, which looks sharp and bright with the Acura's dark wheels. On the front, you will find it having LED headlights and signature grille, that improves its visual width.
Engine (Power)
The TLX comes with a less frugal, powerful V-6 or a more fuel-efficient four-cylinder. The latter has one of the best EPA ratings among the rivals tested.
The regular 206-horsepower four-cylinder comes with eight-speed automatic transmission, front-wheel drive and includes a rear-wheel-steering for better cornering. The V-6 generates 290 horsepower using a nine-speed automatic. You get the V-6 with Acura's all-wheel drive (SH-AWD) that can distribute power to all wheels for better traction and handling.
Performance
Acura TLX offers two engines, a 3.5-liter 290-horsepower V-6, and a 2.4-liter 206-horsepower inline-4. These engines are not turbocharged but smooth and powerful enough for most buyers. The Acura's all-wheel drive and its V-6 make the TLX more fun. The acceleration is stronger off the line with more reserved for the highway. You get secure handling and impressive traction with its all-wheel drive, especially with the 19-inch wheels from the optional A-Spec package.
Interior
Inside the Acura TLX's cabin, are comfortable seats and quality materials. Its infotainment system has upper and lower display screens, that offer more operations and show more information.
The interior space is competitive, even though its back seat is non-folding. Sufficient interior storage and generous luggage space make TLX a better travel companion. Its regular-sized trunk is shaped to hold maximum carry-on suitcases. There is also a huge rubber bin hidden below the cargo floor.
Safety
The 2020 TLX secures a crash-test rating of five. The trim levels include an organized set of standard driver-assistance features, however, rear cross-traffic alert and blind-spot monitoring are available only when you buy the technology package. Primary safety features include automated emergency brakes, standard forward-collision warning, standard adaptive cruise control, and standard lane-departure warning. Together these features make the Acura TLX 2020 a strong car in terms of safety and security.
