Stylish Makeover
For the 2019 model year, the ILX received a design makeover that includes a larger angular grille between the LED headlights on the front of the sedan. A similar design is reflected in the bumper and taillights on the back. There’s also an optional A-Spec appearance package which adds a body kit and upsized wheels to the exterior and sporty features to the interior. Exterior upgrades include a diamond-patterned grille and a sculpted hood, trunk, and taillights.
Solid Performance
The 2019 ILX might be a sedan but it’s still a fun ride! Acura has one engine powering the vehicle, a 2.4-liter inline-4 that produces 201 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque. It produces a nice acceleration and is paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transition with tech features packed in.
Steering wheel-mounted paddles allow the driver to shift through the gears manually. The engine and transmission are a peppy combination. Together with its perfectly matched suspension, the ILX has an athletic feel. It’s meant for a commute more than the track and has a soft ride with good lean for driving down the road. The cabin is nicely quiet at highway speeds. Overall, the ILX performs solidly as a daily driver and is fuel-efficient.
Interior Style
Style isn’t just confined to the exterior. One of the best features on the interior is the standard moonroof hovering above 38 inches of headroom. There’s also the standard synthetic leather seats that add to the style of the ILX. To ensure comfort for the driver, there’s an eight-way power driver’s seat. A premium package adds leather upholstery and limited power adjustment for the passenger seat.
Opting for the A-Spec package upgrades the upholstery to an ultra-suede with contrasting stitching and piping to give it a sporty look. The interior also gets touches of Milano leather for an extra dose of style.
Standard features on the base ILX include power features, Bluetooth, and heated front seats. The premium package option also includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and an 8.0-inch touch screen for the infotainment system. Navigation and an ELS auto system are included in the technology package option. In terms of cargo space, the ILX has a 12.9 cubic foot trunk.
Safety Features
The 2019 Acura ILX received a five-star safety rating from the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) and had good ratings overall from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). It comes standard with some safety tech features across all trims including automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and active lane control.
