2019 Acura NSX | Fox Acura of El PasoThe legend continues with the 2019 Acura NSX, one of the most technologically advanced vehicles in the sports car field thanks to its powerful V-6 turbocharged engine with no less than three electric motors. Committed to securing its position within the supercar realm, Acura knows just one variant won’t do, which is why it’s planning to include both a convertible and track-ready Type R in its plans. Learn more about Acura’s exciting plans for the NSX below.

What’s New with the 2019 Acura NSX

Part of NSX’s second-generation initially introduced in 2017, the current 2019 Acura NSX features minor interior and exterior cosmetic changes while adding power seats and a technology package to its list of standard features.  Software, tire, and suspension tuning updates enhance overall performance while offering a comfortable ride and impressive forward visibility. Finally, buyers experience powerful acceleration and impressive fuel economy thanks to its hybrid drivetrain along with easy handling for both experienced and novice drivers.

Standard Features

The 2019 Acura NSX includes many standard features buyers are looking for, adding 19-inch wheels in the front and 20-inch wheels in the rear, adaptive suspension dampers, parking sensors, and keyless ignition LED headlights, and entry.

Inside you’ll find power-adjustable seats with heating, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, dual-zone automatic climate control, and leather and simulated-suede upholstery along with standard technology features like two USB inputs, a navigation system, the AcuraLink smartphone connectivity system, a nine-speaker premium ELS sound system with satellite radio, a 7-inch touchscreen, and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility,

Available Packages

In addition to two package upgrades outfitting the Acura NSX with interior and exterior carbon-fiber trim, there are several stand-alone options to choose from as well. Buyers can choose to add upgraded performance summer tires, a different style of wheels, premium leather upholstery and a simulated suede headliner, premium paint hues, and carbon-ceramic brakes.

Power and Performance

A 3.5-liter, V-6 twin-turbocharged engine pairs with a nine-speed transmission along with a set of three electric motors to continually optimize and monitor the traction of the Acura NSX. The rear wheels are powered by the V-6 engine, while electric motors power each of the front wheels. This allows the vehicle’s onboard computers to individually accelerate and decelerate the wheels, ensuring the NSX stays its course during high-performance activity.

A third electric motor is paired with the V-6 engine in traditional hybrid-electric fashion, enabling very smooth engine starts while adding torque at lower speeds. The combination of the electric motors and a gasoline V-6 engine delivers 573 horsepower and 476 pound-feet of torque.

Future Type R and Convertible Models

Carbon-ceramic brakes and stiffer suspension components are anticipated to help with the overall on-road poise of the Type R NSX, while larger front splitter and aero bits such as a rear wing will add downforce and improve airflow at higher speeds. It will also see a jump in power going from 573 to 650 horsepower. With the stiffness of the body, a convertible option is also a distinct possibility featuring a removable top panel.
